Global Wind Day

15
June 2020

It is organised by the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) and the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC). It is a day when wind energy is celebrated, information is exchanged and adults and children find out about wind energy, its power and the possibilities it holds to change the world. According to some experts, wind energy can solve not only many energy problems but also resolve numerous economic and environmental issues. It can reduce huge investment in energy. As a result, the problem of depleting fossil fuels will not pose such a threat; the world will overcome the current global warming crisis. In association with EWEA and GWEC, national wind energy associations and companies involved in wind energy production organise events in many countries around the world. Europe was the first continent to celebrate the day in 2007. The day became a world event in 2009 when over 30 countries joined in. In 2011, there were events organised in 30 countries, on 4 continents. Events included visits to onshore and offshore wind farms, information campaigns, demonstration turbines being set up in cities, wind workshops and a wind parade.
